In 2011, Nautilus Group, Inc. began planning a multifamily development in Berkeley, California. But, the planning of this project would be different. Nautilus Group set some important goals early in the planning process of their Berkeley project:

  • Build higher quality housing at a lower cost than normal for industry standards
  • Cut material waste by 90%
  • Improve the quality of the product
  • Minimize the impacts associated with site-built construction techniques

So, how would Nautilus Group achieve their goals? The answer: Factory-Built, Modular Construction.

Nautilus Group spent two years planning a new approach to factory-built housing. And, in 2013 NEMO Building Systems was created. NEMO bought a 118,000sf manufacturing facility in Lathrop, CA and began manufacturing in the 4th quarter of 2013.

NEMO manufactures modular units strictly for Nautilus Group.
